The SEA conference in Tulsa is fast-approaching, and this will be the first conference for the Junior Scholars’ Caucus as an officially recognized group. The focus of the JSC is on providing opportunities for networking and professional guidance for students as well as those who have recently entered the profession. Any student or any scholar within three years of receipt of a Ph.D. and a member of the SEA is welcome to join. We have a variety of events planned, and we encourage you to attend as many as possible!
The JSC has two sponsored panels at the conference. “Early America Unbounded” takes place Thursday, March 2, 9:00-10:30am (Session I). “The Wandering PhD: Is Alt-Ac the New Tenure?” is on Thursday afternoon, 3:15-4:45pm (Section IV).
Following the conference reception on Thursday night, the JSC will host an informal gathering at Fassler Hall (304 S Elgin). The SEA has generously agreed to buy one round of drinks for all registered attendees. You can RSVP to this event when you register for the conference.
On Friday, the JSC will have its first business meeting from 5:30-6:45pm. At this meeting we will discuss the process for choosing new co-chairs (detailed information forthcoming), as well as the development of new programs/activities moving forward.
If you would like to join the JSC, email co-chairs Kirsten Iden (email@example.com) and Melissa Antonucci (firstname.lastname@example.org). You can also follow the JSC on Twitter (@seajrscholars) and Facebook (www.facebook.com/seajrscholars).
